Running for Cupcakes

Healthy eating is an important part of my life today however this has not always been the case. I had always heard the expression “you are what you eat” but never gave much thought as to what it truly meant and how it applies to my life.

Working in the fitness industry has expanded my knowledge on nutrition in a big way. The first time I heard 80% of changing your body is diet transformed my whole perception on diet and exercise. I could no longer justify running on a treadmill for an hour to reward my sweet tooth with a cupcake. I have learned that exercise is a supplement  to healthy eating not the other way around.

I was told “you can run but you can’t hide from your diet." I could become a cardio freak to burn off all the sugar and butter in that sweet cupcake however I would never see results from this hard work spent at the gym. So that trip to the bakery I’d love to take since I was a child would have to become a little less regular.

The more I learn about nutrition the more I realize all those silly expressions taught in elementary class really get to the point of healthy living. Fueling your body with good food will allow it to run better, like a machine. As a child it sounds like mumb-jumbo however now I see the truth in these elementary expressions. What you put into your body will be what you get out of your body. If your fueling your body with good clean food then your exert more energy, more power, and more endorphins which ultimately leads to a better you!

Now even with the simplicity of eating healthy cravings are not a thing of the past. We all love sweets and who could deny the lavish taste of a Crave Cupcake, I know I can’t. Yet these treats can be at the cost of your lifestyle goals. Finding a balance between enjoying eating and wearing that darling little black dress can only be unveiled by you.
