Over the past year or so, I decided to reduce my
intake of meat products in an attempt to reduce my caloric and fat intake but
also to increase my fruit and veggie consumption, reduce my meal costs and my
ecological foot print. "Meatless Monday" was a term that I
had seen trending on many food and lifestyle blogs. What was interesting to me,
was to learn that Meatless Monday's had been around for a long time.

ReplyDeleteYour post helped me to examine my eating habits and it cleared up misconceptions I have had about proteins. I tend to eat a heavily protein infused diet. I made this decision without a lot of background research and now knowing about the potential health effects I am going to look at rethinking how I portion my food groups.
The history behind Meatless Monday is quite intriguing. The fact that the importance of this day has been concrete throughout history up until present day is pretty amazing. Although the reason behind the day has changed throughout the years the name has held strong, it pays homage to the efforts made in World War I and II.
Thanks for the interesting blog!
