Lately I have noticed at restaurants menus
filled with the vegetable kale! I am extremely into health and nutrition and
have never really knew much about this vegetable and therefore decided to do
some research on the beneficial food.
Kale has a fairly strong and acquired taste and can be quite bitter. Mostly, I chop, steam or sauté and add it to other ingredients. It has a lot of nutrition so it is worth making several attempts to find a way that you will enjoy it. One way I’ve seen it used lately is in salads, either substituted or added to lettuce which is a great way to also add a kick to your diet if you find yourself sometimes dreading eating just another plain salad.
I was quite surprised to find out that kale had numerous benefits to human health as I just thought restaurants used it because of it 's aesthetic appeal. Its nutritional value is extremely high and with being a type of hidden cabbage not a lot of people know the true benefits and health outcomes it can bring. Kale is filled with antioxidants, which protect our cells from free radicals, which causes our bodies stress. Not only does it offer whopping doses of vitamin K, A and C it also plays a major role in cardiovascular support and omega 3 fatty acids which help regulate our bodies inflammatory process.
Ever feel so rundown, bloated and overall unhealthy? There can be numerous causes for feeling this way but one simple solution is a kale detox. The ingredients found in kale aid in both phases I and II of the body’s detoxification process. The high sulfur content of kale has further been shown to be essential in detoxification. It is a great vegetable to kick-start your diet process and gets your body and mind back on the track to a healthy diet that will lead to a healthy lifestyle.
I love Kale! I bake kale with oil, salt and pepper, it is a great alternative for chips. I know they are healthy especially when I am eating them over potatoes chips but I had no idea the extent of their benefits.
ReplyDeleteI am excited to learn kale is beneficial for cardiovascular. With the rise of heart disease kale could make an impact in fatty diets which contribute to this alarming disease.
I also did not know the detox properties of kale. If it wasn't for it "strong, bitter and acquired taste" this could be a perfect hangover remedy!
